‘Zine thing
Nichts geht über Selbstgemachtes… Apfelkuchen, Grossmutters Socken, CH Labels und… ‘Zines! Das Versus Skatezine zum Beispiel. Wir waren uns nie ganz sicher woher es kommt, aber verschiedene Hinweise liessen erahnen, dass es irgendwo aus der Schweiz kommen könnte. Als das letzte Mag auftauchte, mussten wir einfach Nachforschungen erstellen und sind dabei auf einen jungen Herrn gestossen, welcher uns nach einer kurzen Anfrage subito diese Antwort geschickt hat. Und die erklärt wohl alles von selbst…. DIY or DIE!
G.I.Jey, aka Jey, Jeysus, Jeysanova, Jeymie, Jeyke, Jeyson, Black Sheep, etc… Born the same day as Jesus but 1983 years later (shit happends…). Family from Paris, but born in Savoie (French-Alps where the Raclette was invented!), lived 6 years in Montreal, living in Bern during summer since 3 years, work in a farm, and travel around the world during the rest of the year… ski-resort, harvest the grapes, help on festivals etc… skate since 12 years soon, and I’m still really bad. But do you know what? I don’t care because I LOVE it. I’ve got the PASSION. And I’ve FUN. It’s all about that. Versus Skate’Zine & Plus is soon 5 years old, in French, freestyle English, and a bit of my shitty German. I learn to be a graphic-designer just to work for a skatemag or skateboard company, but never got the chance, so I just started my own shit. I do everything by myself DO IT YOURSELF style. (with the help of my friends as photographer and more sometimes). Get an advertisement once in a while when I’m too broke to pay the printing price. Try to make one issue / month but it doesn’t work, I’m always late. I made once, one color-issue, and I think I will never do it again… Check my website for past issues: www.versus-skatezine.ca. Web, PDF, Facebook, Issuu, etc are just helpfull to make a bit of promo but actually it sucks. The real shit are the printed copies. Free (for you not for me). Try to get some to get the idea of the DIY PUNK spirit. I’ve got a list of stuff to do before I die. One is grinding over a fucking death box in a real pool. Another is doing a skate-trip to Skatopia, etc… I’m working on it… I love cheese and hate cops. My best friend is called Niniche, and he’s killing it in every ways. I’m crazy, I still buy skate dvds…
