RB, you’ve been travelling the world with the ZY-Crew for “state of
mind”. What place or situation stuck in your mind?

The craziest place we went while filming for “State of Mind” was South
Africa.  The best skate spots we travelled to were in China.  And the
funnest place by far was Australia.

How long were you filming for this project? Why did it take so long to
make another ZY-Video?

We’ve been filming for this video for about 3-4 years.  It has been 7 years
since the last Zoo video (Unbreakable – Mixtape 2).  It took a long time
because the team has gone thru some major changes and the level of skating
these days is very high and skate spots are harder and harder to come by.

How’s filming with such e diverse team? I mean you have Donny Barley
who had a mind-blowing part in “eastern exposure” and on the other hand
there is Zerred Basset or Brandon Westgate who are raising the level all
the time…

It is awesome filming with such a diverse team and I love how everybody
skates differently.  We will go to a spot and each skater will hit it in a
different way.  Donny Barley especially likes to think outside the box and
loves hitting spots in ways that nobody else does.   I think the team’s
diversity is great for a video like “State of Mind” to keep things flowing
and exciting.  Everybody will have their own personal favorite part of this
video and it is because everybody skates differently.  It’s refreshing to
see this kind of diversity in a skate team yet they all maintain the same
flavor that east coast skaters are known for.

Since we are based in switzerland: Any stories/memories while touring
our small country last summer?

Oh I love coming to Swissaland!  Andi always takes great care of us and you
guys have some really sick spots.  I’m glad we got to skate the brick
transition spot this time where Brandon got the cover of Skateboarder
Magazine.  The last time we went there with Jeff Pang it was raining.  I
remember it being super hot this summer and Andi took us to this big bank
next to a river..  It was so hot that we all just took our shirts off and
jumped in the water.

Is there going to be footy of the international riders in the flick?

Yes the international riders have their own section in the Bonus Menu of
the DVD..  Don’t sleep on the bonus features!

Any plans after the release of “state of mind”?

I’m just trying to stay busy..  filming all the Red Bull Manny Mania Am
contests around the country.  As well as the Zoo York Am Getting Paid and
Maloof Contests.  Hopefully Zoo York will be making the switch to HD video
and we can start doing all our web videos in Hi Def.   Zered has also been
talking about getting the “Vicious Sequel” video going so we’re still
hitting the streets up on a daily basis.
